Solubility: 12% in H2O at 20°C, pH (1% in H2O): 3.5-5.0; Gelatin Powder is used as a combination Acrylamide-Gelatin-Jung resin for cryosectioning of large and soft tissues (eggs, fishes, insects). A new embedding medium for cryosectioning eggs of high yolk and lipid content. It is used to prepare gelatin-chrome alum adhesive to coat glass slides for mounting semi-thin sections for staining.

Cargille Meltmount (optical quality) is a series of mounting media which are specifically formulated for use in microscope slide mounting and in other optical coupling applications.
< Use Meltmount for instant thermal mountants that require "no-oven-time" and are thermally reversible for sample retrieval or re-orientation. Meltmounts are PBC free and contains no solvents. Cleanup in toluene. Fluid at 65 degree C. It is a direct replacement for old mountant mediums (Canada Balsam, Aroclor 5442, Naphrax...) It has a refractive index (nD @25 deg C) of 1.582 and an Abbe V dispersion of 33. Its optical clarity makes it the preferred choice for minimum visible absorption.

Leica Biosystems FSC 22 BLUE 4OZ 9/CS
FSC 22 is a water soluble embedding compound used in frozen sectioning. The compound bonds and encapsulates tissue specimens to the object holder for cryosectioning. It provides excellent sectioning consistency with minimal curling of sections at a working temperature of -20 °C. FSC 22 is available in clear or in light blue for better visualization of small specimens. It is highly recommended for surgical pathology laboratories.
